Who we are

Providing good healh care is difficult when you don't understand each other because of language of cultural barriers. Questions and uncertainties do not surface, with possible frustrations for both the GP and the patient as a result.

AlloMedics was founded to support this. We organize video calls with a general practitioner in the patient's own language. Your own GP remains the supervisor, we conduct a conversation to supplement the conversation that started in the consultation room of the patient's own GP. If this is followed by a referral, it will be better geared to the patient's needs.

By speaking to patients in their own language, we make healthcare more efficient and targeted. In this way we avoid unnecessary healthcare costs and unnecessary referrals to secondary care.

Our added value

We speak the language of both the general practitioner and that of the patient. We can identify complex patient problems by communicating directly with the patient. That leaves room for picking up non-verbal expressions. It also leads to a safe environment in which the patient can be vulnerable.

Many cultures know shame when expressing vulnerabilities. Because there are uncertainties after a consultation, the risk of misdiagnosis remains. This ultimately results in a significant increase in healthcare costs, because the patient keeps coming back and the GP refers inefficiently to secondary care.

Collective of doctors

AlloMedics is a collective of general practitioners and medical specialists. In addition to Dutch, we have a perfect command of at least one other language and we know the culture of the country where this language is spoken. The latter is important. It is our experience that not only a language barrier can seriously hinder the relationship with a patient, but also cultural differences.

By uniting ourselves within AlloMedics, we can maximize the added value of our intercultural competences. We hope to thereby improve the treatment relationship and the perceived accessibility to care.

Our goals

  • Support from the GP
  • Increase the perceived accessibility to care
  • Prevent unneeded referrals to secondary care
